Vietnam

Vietnam Minister of Health and KidsCareEverywhere board members, Dr. Ronald Dieckmann and Dr. Michelle Lin

KidsCareEverywhere began it's work in  Hanoi in 2006, and we have since expanded to a national partnership. Vietnam is our first Core Site and models future Core Site partnerships around the globe.

Vietnam: A National Partnership

Our work began in 2006 with strong partnerships with Vietnamese pediatricians and the donation of software. In 2007, Dr. Ron Dieckmann, Dr. Rob Pitt, and KCE Ambassadors Marlowe Dieckmann and Paget Allis trained Vietnamese pediatricians to incorporate medical technologies into their practice.

In 2009, Dr. Ron Dieckmann, Dr. Michelle Lin, Jamie Sharp, Marlowe Dieckmann, and Hieu Do hosted three major training conferences for pediatricians in Northern and Central Coastal Vietnam. These conferences allowed KCE to reach more physicians in a time efficient, cost effective manner.

In 2010, Dr. Dieckmann lead another 6 person cohort of trainers and ambassadors.
KCE adopted two new approaches:
- the involvement of an in-country coordinator
- the initiation of 6 month in-country internships

These additions enable KCE to reach hundreds of pediatricians in rural, harder to reach sites, to further customization of our resources, and to evaluate the real-time application of our donated resources.

Core Site Relationships

Our collaboration in Vietnam exemplifies the aims of our work with additional Core Sites.
This Core Site relationship is characterized by:

- a high volume of conferences instructed by KCE ambassadors
- a high number of pediatricians who have received free licenses to PEMSoft and additional references
- the customization and compatibility of software to local needs and requests
- the sustained support and presence of KCE in local hospitals, illustrated through a continued relationship and on-the ground seasonal support through internships and recurring visits
- the collaboration of hospital staff, government officials, and KidsCareEverywhere team members to create a highly desirable and free package of donated services, trainings, and tools
